Four Abdalians announce scholarships

Speaking at the annual dinner and get-together of Abdalians at Lok Virsa on Saturday, the President of Abdalians' Association, Syed Ashfaq Hussain announced that four Abdalians had expressed their interest to give scholarships to needy students.

The Abdalian's who announced the award of the scholarships, included Syed Aqil Shah (11th Entry), Maj. Gen. Sikander Khan (1st Entry), Maj. Gen. Burki and Dr. Shoaib Shafi (17th Entry). It appeared that the announcement was made in haste, as no one said anything about the amount of the scholarship.

Scholarships can be of any amount, depending on the model that one creates. It can be a fully paid scholarship, which will mean that all expenses will be covered under the scholarship programme, including tuition, boarding and lodging, clothing, pocket money etc.

Syed Aqil Shah Dr Shoaib Shafi

It was not announced when the pledged amounts will be given to the College administration so that the funds may be immediately utilized. Furthermore it was also not announced whether these scholarships will be one-time transaction, i.e., given to only one student by each offeror for his five years of stay at CCH, or will it be given to one student every year joining in class-8 who meets the criterion. Although the office bearers of the Association did say that more funds will be collected for the purpose of giving out more scholarships, it is expected that this objective may not be met, unless more and more Abdalians are made aware of this programme and transparency is highlighted at the AGM's that the scholarships were disbursed according to a defined criterion.
