Mr. Dilshad gets a standing ovation at his farewell

Prof. Dilshad Hussain was the chief guest at the farewell dinner given in his honour on 18th December, 2006 at Islamabad Club. The dinner was arranged in the Islamabad Golf Club building. As space was a little limited, ladies were served in the main hall, while the boys were served food in the marquee on the first floor. The function was attended by well over 300 people.
Later the guests all walked over to the auditorium of the Club, which was well adorned by a wonderful backdrop bearing an abstarct photograph of Mr. Dilshad Hussain, alongwith the sponsors banners. Lt. Gen. Masood Aslam, President of Abdalians' Association paid a rich tribute to Dilshad Sb for his lifetime services to Cadet College. Earlier, the Secretary General, Brig (Retd) Noor-ud-Din Ahmed, in his welcome address, praised the former Principal for his dedication to the cause of Cadet College and education.
The lead sponsor of the event was Askari Commercial Bank Limited. A special message of the President of the Bank was also read out, acknowledging the services rendered by Dilshad Sb in the 52 years of his association with Cadet College Hasanabdal. The three other sponsors were all Abdalians, i.e, Musadaq Zulqarnain (17th entry) of Interloop (Pvt) Ltd, Mr. Nasim Beg of Arif Habib Investments and Mr. Shahid Gulzar of Anjum Asim Shahid & Co, Chartered Accountants.
The environment became very serene when Mr. Dilshad was requested to come to the stage to a say a few words. Everybody in the hall, including ladies, stood up from their seats to give a standing ovation to Dilshad Sb amongst thunderous applause. While delivering his address, he was overwhlemed with emotions and saluted his students.
Later, Ali Haider, the renowned singer, performed in front of the audience and sang a few ghazals also on the "farmaish" of Mr. Moinudd Din, a senior 5th entry Abdalian.
